There is a lot of enthusiasm among the city residents for placing Ganesh idols at their home. People from adjoining districts of Punjab and Haryana are also coming to Chandigarh to buy Ganesha idols.
A family of artists from Rajasthan is here in Chandigarh especially for idol making. They are making these idols using the clay from Rajasthan and colours from Mumbai. Interestingly, the preparations of the idols usually starts 6 months before Ganesh Chaturthi. One can see these idols being prepared and displayed at Chandigarh-Zirakpur highway.
Most of the artists these days are choosing to make eco-friendly idols. According to them, the Eco friendly idols dissolve quickly in water. After 2 years of pandemic restrictions, the enthusiasm for Ganesh Chaturthi seems to have multiplied exponentially this year.
