Bringing a ritualistic doomsday event like no other to the city, a group of medical professionals along with Tricity-based Mera Qi and performance group Sneaky Peaky Boo under the name ‘Fugue’ are all set to bring out your dark side. Here is all you need to know about the exciting event.
Fugue literally is a medical term used for dissociative amnesia. In simple language, it refers to temporary reversible memory impairment. The person might travel off to places in a fugue state, develop a whole new identity and remember nothing about it when he/she returns to his/her normal life.
Doomsday marks the first of the four rituals that have been planned for 2023. The first ritual includes being part of the theme right from the moment he/she enters the ritual. One would experience the world we expect once the apocalypse strikes the earth.
There are 8 artists partnering for the event, apart from local talent, along with ‘Take Two’ and Aditya Kulharia.
With spectacular visual, vibe and music, Fugue acts like a draining channel of creativity for these doctors who have been together since college. These doctors who like to remain behind the scene handle the creative aspects at Fugue. The themes which they promise to deliver have been diligently curated over the years.
Since the tagline says, ‘We sell vibe!’, it would be a limited capacity ritual of about 500 ritualists.
Sneaky Peaky is a performance troupe with a group of artists coming together and putting together different acts, experimenting with different ideas and working together. It started with Arunesh Moudgil as a movement artist trying to find music for his movement and then he found some musicians along the way and they started performing together. They are always looking for a variety of styles to play and explore with.
Arunesh says, “This event is a new project, a bunch of doctors coming together and wanting to create a theme-based performance dance event. The event is more about what the audience is going to experience as part of the vibe there. For the vibe they have us.”.
Also next to the stage, along with goofy characters running around, there will be four dead brides being part of the party and the concept comes from the Mexican festival of celebrating the dead, he further shares. Arunesh will be doing the fire acts, while Ayesha Sandhu, the curator at Mera Qi in Sector 18, Chandigarh, will be a Shamanic witch from 2053.
There are two specially-created dance spaces with techno music with dark lighting. Ayesha will be doing artwork as well, along with tarot cards and crystals that will be a part of it. There will also be an aerial guitarist inspired by ‘Mad Max’.
Chaotic and messy will be what one can expect. The idea is to participate and interact as it is about poking and triggering people with a little bit of harshness, inviting them to be a part of the play, Arunesh concludes.
When: January 7, 2023
