Among the three prominent amusement-cum-water parks in the periphery of Chandigarh, Fun City is one of the most sought-after places, where fun freaks love to hang around with family and friends.
Chandigarh’s Fun City amusement-cum-water Park is located at Ramgarh in Panchkula district of Haryana, and is barely an hour’s drive from Chandigarh, where fun-seekers turn up in great numbers, during the peak summer months. The footfall witnesses a sharp surge as the sweltering heat wave hits the plains of Punjab and Haryana.
Tucked in the sylvan surroundings of Ramgarh in Panchkula district of Haryana, the Fun City was thrown open to the public in 1995. This became the first-of-its-kind theme amusement park to come up near Chandigarh. Initially, the park remained out of public gaze as it was a new concept for city folks here. As the footfall gradual picked up, a water park was added which attracted more visitors.
Spread over 43 acres of land, the meticulously maintained water park is silhouetted against the distant Shivalik ranges on the Chandigarh-Nadda Sahib highway.
Some of the major attractions the Fun City brags about are the theme Amusement Park and Water Park offering a double delight for those who want to make the best of their holiday, especially on weekends. The water park remains closed for visitors during the winter season.
The amusement park has over 20 hydraulic rides that people of all age groups are excited to go to make a whoopee. Wunder Water forming the water park section has as many as six landing pools, an activity pool, a sea wave pool and a cluster of 17 water slides of various shapes and sizes which one would love to enjoy. The other prominent draws of the park are the lazy river ride, splash pool, aqua dance, slides like multi- lane typhoon tunnel, white slide, red dragon slide, run away raft slide and pendulum slide, et al.
“We have something for everyone regardless of their age. While kids have fun games to play and grab their choicest snacks, foodies may tickle their taste buds gorging on their favourite food here,” says a staffer.
“We head straight to the Fun City at Ramgarh (Panchkula) along with our septuagenarian parents when the temperatures in Chandigarh and elsewhere sour steadily. While we enjoy the slides, our parents enjoy being around taking a stroll, while the kids take a splash in the cerulean waters under the watch of a hawk-eyed staffer. We have fun the whole day to return home before sundown, fully revitalized. We make it to the place at least once or twice a month, especially during the peak summer months” Ritu Bansal and Sanjeev Bansal tell CityWoofer.
One of the most googled fun-inducing destinations by the visiting tourists from home and abroad, Fun City is barely a distance of 20 km (appx) from the Sector 17 Inter-State-Bus-Terminus (ISBT), Chandigarh. A regular public transport service and other modes of transport are available from the Chandigarh and Panchkula bus stands. Cab service is a call away from these locations.
