The annual Chandigarh Literature Festival, organised by the Adab Foundation is the biggest literary event in Chandigarh. CLF was first inaugurated in 2012 and was a landmark event for the city and its literati. Conceived with the aim of putting Chandigarh on the nation’s and the world’s literary map, it has very much achieved its aim. CLF has come a long way and is now counted amongst some of the biggest literature festivals in the country. Chandigarh Book Fair
Chandigarh Book Fair is the single largest such fair in the region. The 10-day long fair is held annually at the Sector 34 ground. It hosts publishers from around the country and the world. What makes the Chandigarh Book Fair even more attractive is the wide genres of books that are available for purchase at one place – fiction, non-fiction, biographies, self-help books, science, crime-thrillers, books on music, art, movies, general knowledge, reference, romance, children’s books, rare books, and more, you can get it all here. Literati – Chandigarh Lit Fest
Literati is another major literary festival in Chandigarh, being organized by the Chandigarh Literary Society continuously from the last 4 years. The festival is envisioned as an agglomeration of ideas, thoughts, opinions and of course, some really meaningful discussions. In the past, the festival has seen prominent guests like writers Amish Tripathi, Ashwin Sanghi, commentator Tarek Fatah and comedian Radhika Vaz.
Chandigarh Children’s Literature Festival
CCLF is the only Lit Fest in Chandigarh focusing exclusively on children’s literature. The festival not only explores the richness of the children’s genre of literature, but also conducts engaging sessions with the children to ignite a love for literature in their hearts, and inculcate a habit of reading in them. The best part is the impact that the initiative is having on the young minds, the event sees school students turning up in large numbers, enjoying the aura, and learning some amazing things.
Abhivyakti – National Literary Festival
Abhivyakti is a national level literary fest organised by Chandigarh University. It holds the distinction of being solely organised by the student community. The two-day annual fest is not just about the discussions and speaker sessions, it also hosts a number of competitions and contests to give way to the literary sparks of the students. Being organised from past two years, the literary fest has seen eminent guests like journalist and news anchor Rohit Sardana, and Padma Shri Dr. Gyan Chaturvedi.
