IPL 2023 rule change: Teams will name their playing XIs after the toss
This has been done to enable teams to choose the best XI depending on whether they are batting or bowling first. It will also assist the teams to plan for the Impact Player ( one substitute who can come in to bat and bowl) . IPL has stipulated that the Impact Player can only be an Indian if there are four overseas players in a team’s starting XI. If there are less than four foreign players, then a foreign player can even come in as an Impact Player.
