Chandigarh: Waving tricolours, girls and boys dressed in signature blue T-shirts of Indian cricket team and a highly charged up atmosphere – that’s the scene outside Punjab Cricket Association’s Bindra Stadium in Mohali today where India will be taking on Australia in the first T20 International match of 3-match-series. The match will start at 7:30 PM today. This will be the first game that India will play after finishing off their Asia Cup 2022 journey. Both the teams have been attending training session from last 4 days.
Interestingly, India and Australia have faced each other 23 times in T20 format and India has 13 wins to its credit while Australia has nine and one game ended in no result.
Five T20 matches have been played here between 2009 and 2019 and three of these matches have been won by the sides batting second and two by the teams batting first.
PCA will be unveiling the two stands named after Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh an hour before the match. The South Pavilion has been named after Harbhajan Singh, while the North Pavilion is named after Yuvraj.
