A middle-aged housewife, a corporate trainer, a fresher in college, a government employee, a soul-searching traveller – all these people listen to different genres of music respectively. But what is the one song they will have in common? All time favourite Rabbi Shergill hit “Bullah ki Jaana”, of course!
For those unfamiliar with the name (which rock do you live under?), Rabbi Shergill is an Indian musician who rose to fame in 2005 with his single “Bullah Ki Jaana” from the self-titled debut album Rabbi. A punjabi singer who dabbles in different genres, Rabbi’s songs touch the hearts of everyone, from indie rock fans to ambient music listeners. Rabbi dabbles with different styles including sufiana, western styles, and bani melodies. His music is most often described as a “semi-sufi semi-folksy kind of music with a lot of western arrangements”.
What’s more? Rabbi has lent his voice to various Bollywood films over the years including films like Delhii Heights, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, and Raanjhana. The soulful singer-songwriter is out with his third album Rabbi III and is all set to share his compositions with Chandigarh music lovers. Flyp@MTV has made it possible for Chandigarhians to watch this urban balladeer live and it’s not a chance you’ll want to miss!
