There has never been a better time to be a poet!

The poetry scene in the city has seen a spurt over the last five years. Poets of all ages, languages, are making their mark felt on the stage and on paper. The world is grappling with its own identity and we writers are helping the conversation along - sometimes bridging it, sometimes fueling it, sometimes concluding it.

Today, unprecedented changes are taking place in politics, with social norms, with our own attitudes towards gender, sexuality, race, religion. It is a tumultuous time. Hence, it is a time ripe for self expression, for writing, for the arts. What we say today will be what is considered history decades into the future.

That we say it well, to the best of our abilities, hence, becomes obvious and important.

Poetry College is a safe space to start conversations about poetry, about writing, about styles, and most importantly about improvement, about progress, about growth.

||"We have all felt that the process of learning writing in India is haphazard at best and mostly non-existent. While the western world has developed programs for writing, leading to some brilliant career writers, we have grumblingly settled on the doubtful premise of, "Poetry can't be taught."||

Poetry College is built to help you with the blocks and ceilings you face with your writing. It is built to help you notice the invisible bridges between all levels of writing. It is built to help you not only find your voice, but to develop it.

Poetry College is a 4 month course. It considers the Philosophy of Poetry, to specifics like Humour and Phonetics. It delves into ideas and execution of Metaphor, Rhythm, Narrative. It has Masterclasses and Interviews with eminent poets. It will have an introduction to the seemingly gated world of Publishing.

Poetry College will push you to explore yourself even as you push to explore the limits of your own language.

All of Poetry College mentors are people with great poetry sensibilities and the ability to articulate these sensibilities. They are people who are alive and active on the poetry scene of the country, even representing the scene abroad. More importantly, they are approachable people with a very positive outlook towards poetry, writing, self expression, and self exploration.

While workshops are helpful in their own way, they lack the discipline, progression, and the community building aspects of a formal course. Poetry College 2019 will run from April 2019 to August 2019 and is open to every poet above the age of 16.

The sessions will be held alternate Sunday mornings and alternate Thursday evenings. This way you get free weekends each month and have to manage work timings only two days in a month.
